Adam Pendleton

Adam Pendleton (b. 1984, Richmond, Virginia) is recognized for his conceptual practice, which engages with language, abstraction, and identity through a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, writing, film, and performance. He configures systems of visual communication which often function at the limits of legibility. Frequently referencing historical movements in art and politics, his work layers images and texts in order to critically examine ideas from seemingly disparate cultural perspectives. Pendleton experiments with degrees of opacity and disruption through Black Dada, which he proposes as a broad conceptualization of blackness to be introduced into larger conversations about representation. http://adampendleton.net/
